As Said by Edgar in Act 4, Scene 6

Medieval Doctor

Sit and rest, father.  Let’s look in his pockets. The letters he spoke may help me. He is dead. I’m sorry I had to kill him.  Let’s see here. (reads) Don’t forget the vows we both made to each other.  If you have the strength to do it, you’ll have opportunities. If he returns in triumph, then everything is lost. I will be his prisoner. Help me escape him, and you can take his place.  Is there no limit to women’s lust? She’s plotting against the life of her  husband and wants my brother to replace him! (to the dead OSWALD) I’ll bury you here in a shallow grave, you messenger for lustful criminals. In time I shall show this letter to the duke whose life is at risk. It’s a good thing for him that I can tell him about your death and the letter you were carrying.

The things I’ve been through of late

Forced to run, I disguised myself as a begger, despised by even dogs. I met up with my father, and became his guide, and led him and begged him to not commit suicide. However, I only revealed myself recently as he lie on his death bed, I begged his blessing, unsure of whether to hope for it or not, and he gave it to me. When I recounted my journey, his poor heart burst, torn between grief and joy. Lord Gloucester has passed.

Speech to Edmund: You’re a filthy traitor.

I am a man, who carries a sword, symbolizing my rank, my heritage, and my status as a knight. In spite of your youth, excellent warfare abilities, and recent victory, I declare you a traitor, and I will fight you as such! You’ve betrayed the gods, your father, and your brother, and you plot against the Duke of Albany, and all were blind to your misdeeds. If you disagree with me, I’ll use this sword and my courage to prove you a liar. Step forward!!!

DEATH TO OSWALD

Oswald tried to attack my father, so I was forced to kill him. In his pocket, I found a letter from Goneril to Edmund. She was plotting to have her virtuous husband killed and to marry Edmund!!!! What is this life? I plan to take this letter straight to Albany. In the meantime, I hope to leave my father at a friend’s house and take care of some matters.

Wow stuff’s been going ON.

I came across my father, blinded and being led by a gentleman, so I took over. I couldn’t believe it when he told me to lead him to the top of a cliff and leave him–I couldn’t do such a thing; I was sorry to lie to him. I led my lord a ways and then told him he was at the top of the highest cliff. He “jumped” and passed out. Upon his wakening, I told him that the gods must have saved him. I hope this was the right thing to do!!!
